Projects
These are a few other things I have either already done or am currently working on in attempts to become an active participant in the reversing the climate trend. Take a look if you are interested!

My Research Paper
Currently I am enrolled in the Social Science Research program at The Bronx High School of Science. After much consideration, I landed on my research question --- How to Best Frame the Climate Crisis: The Resulting Efficacy of Impact-Focused vs. Solution-Oriented Climate Communication. In short, I'm exploring whether messages of doom and gloom or messages of hope are more effective at galvanizing people into action when it comes to climate change.
Although there is still a ton of research to be done and data to collect, here is the initial reference article and dataset for those interested:
Reference Article: "Increasing climate efficacy is not a surefire means to promoting climate commitment" by Aishlyn Angill-Williams and Colin J. Davis

Volunteer Work
This past summer, I went to the Dominican Republic with the non-profit Blue Missions, an organization devoted to installing clean drinking water fixtures in remote villages. I learned tons, from the roles of women and children in these villages to the power of collectivity as means of coping — but one broader message stuck with me the most. I learned that when you are a part of a team, everything becomes more attainable. In just a week, a relatively small group of students, trained adults, and local experts were able to change the lives of a whole village of individuals. On our last day in the DR, we had what they called “water day.” Everyone from the village came to see water flow into their town for the first time. The five year olds splashed in the stream with smiles stretching across their entire faces and older community members, who had spent most of their lives accepting the fact that clean water would never reach their homes, stood back and took the moment in. I realized then that collaboration is our best shot at the climate crisis.
